Have a Heart for Oklahaven
October 31, 2012

Oklahaven is celebrating their 50th Anniversary and Chiropractic Physicican Bobby Doescher has dedicated her life to helping neurologically disorganized children, without state, federal or United Way funding.  Oklahaven is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, dedicated to making sick children well in a natural drug free way, allowing the bodies recuperative power to heal.
A colleague of mine visited Oklahaven a few times and also traveled with Dr. Doescher around the world. Together they were able to help many children and witness amazing results through chiropractic, without the use of any medication.
Every year Oklahaven invites organizations and clinics to make a difference in the health care of our nation’s children through their “Have a Heart” campaig during Valentine’s week.  Of course donations are accepted year round as well.  They have a touching video on their website showing a child with crippling Rheumatoid Arthritis receiving care with tremendous results.
For fifty years Dr. Doescher has worked with thousands of children at Oklahaven and around the world. I wanted to inform you about this organization and their event since most likely you won’t read about it in mainstream media.  Oklahaven Children’s Chiropractic Center in Oklahoma City, OK.  (405)948-8807

Magnesium Man
October 24, 2012

Morley Robbins a.k.a. “Magnesium Man” is on a mission to educate the world about the extreme importance of the mineral magnesium.  He has read about 400 articles and close to 20 books on this mineral.

It all started a couple of years ago when Morley had a frozen shoulder and he went to the local health food store to see if he could take something for the extreme pain that he was in.  The staff at the store recommended that he see a local chiropractor and Morley, who was working in the hospital industry for over 30 years was appalled at such a suggestion.

A few months later, still in horrible pain with his frozen shoulder, he went back to the health food store and once again they recommended that he see chiropractor, Dr. Liz Erkenswick.  Morley was in so much pain that he decided to go and found dramatic improvement with chiropractic after a few weeks time. At the same time all of this was occurring Morley had the task of projecting rates on how quickly the level of chronic illnesses in America were rising.  The numbers from his statistical analysis were staggering and this was devastating to him.

Morley’s exposure to the benefits of chiropractic and other aspects of holistic health changed his paradigm of thinking about illness.  This new direction of thought propelled him to investigate and then write articles on nutrition.  The second article he wrote called “Let’s Make a Heart Attack” was how Morley stumbled upon magnesium. Once he realized how this mineral could have a profound effect on reversing and or minimizing the level of chronic diseases that are on the rise he knew he had to let everyone know about what he found.

Morley has quickly become one of the leading experts on magnesium based on the data that he has accumulated in a very short period of time.  He had great experience with doing data compilation and analysis for over 30 years in the medical field and now is bringing this expertise to magnesium.  In our office we have been talking about how magnesium helps with over 300 functions of the body, yet Morley’s investigations have shown that magnesium helps with over 1000 functions of the body.  For years our office has said if there was one pill to take, it’s magnesium and Morley’s information backs up what we have been touting.

Morley’s work is so important that I have included a list of his articles; which, are featured in the “Monthly Aspectarian”.  In our office we recommend taking chelated magnesium any where from 100mg – 400 mg / day on an empty stomach.   For those who have constipation, taking a form such as magnesium oxide often helps people become more regular.  There also is a magnesium spray oil that can be used for children or people who would rather not take a pill.  Here are Morley’s articles.  ENJOY!

Did You Know?
October 10, 2012

Did You Know that October is National Chiropractic Health Month?

This year’s theme is “Find Your Game”; which is especially relevant with how many chiropractors were involved with the athletes at the London Olympics this year.  Throughout the years chiropractors have utilized hands on care along with ergonomic and nutritional recommendations to help people of all athletic levels “Find Their Game”.  Famous athletes endorse chiropractic for helping with the recovery of injuries and with enhancing overall performance.  The NFL and other professional sports teams have welcomed chiropractic physicians to help team players. Chiropractors over the country work with their local children’s sports teams and each chiropractor works individually with their patients to help them “Find Their Own Game”.

Did You Know that chiropractic was included in a NASA expert panel?

In the summer of 2012 the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) addressed the heightened risk of musculoskeletal injuries threatening astronauts, and discussed its concerns during a Spinal Deconditioning Injury Risk Summit.  Chiropractic Physician Dr. John Mayer said “Deconditioning, the breakdown of the spine’s musculoskeletal support system, is a very common and serious condition occurring in astronauts.”  A multidisciplinary panel addressed various issues and NASA expects to develop new measures to counteract spinal deterioration in space crews, based on the panel’s recommendations.

Did You Know that Chiropractic Neurology was featured on Nightline?

Dr. Ted Carrick, president of the American Chiropractic’s Council on Neurology was featured on “Nightline” for his work with traumatic brain injury patients.  Dr. Carrick’s treatment involves re-activating neural pathways in the brain by stimulating other parts of the body.  Dr. Carrick pioneered several methods used by other chiropractic neurologists and he also played a leading role in helping NHL All-Star Sidney Crosby recover from a season–ending concussion.

Movie Review of Doctored
October 3, 2012

I saw the documentary Doctored and felt excited by the potential it could have on our nation.  I know that right now the goal of showing this documentary in a few select theatres is so that it can be up for the Academy Awards this year.  The producers plan to do massive campaigning so they may get picked up by all movie theatres, Public Television, Net Flicks, other venues and to sell DVD’s nationwide.

The impact of this movie could be huge as only 10% or so of the population look for alternative care.  People are hungry for ways to manage their health issues and this documentary can begin to answer questions and to inspire more people to seek alternative health care professionals.

Many topics were covered including footage of the Chiropractors who sued the AMA and won, the journeys of adult and pediatric patients with mainstream medicine and alternative care, organic farming versus Genetically Modified Foods, the famous Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski who has helped many cancer patients, holistic therapy for Lyme Disease, holistic medical doctors being interviewed, famous athletes explaining how chiropractic helped them with recovery / performance and more.

The message is use non-invasive modalities first with surgery and or medication if needed.  This model increases the overall health of people, reduces over medicating and significantly reduces the costs of health care.  One example was of a chiropractor whose son was born a few months prematurely.  The chiropractor was very thankful for the emergency medical care that helped keep his son alive; however he was not in agreement with the mainstream doctors prognosis of his son nor of their recommendations to keep his son on medication for life.  The chiropractor took matters into his own hands and began working on his infant while he lay in the incubator.  As a result of the continued chiropractic adjustments his infant son was able to get off of medication after the acute phase and is now a healthy functioning young boy.

Just yesterday I spoke with a young woman who is not happy with the answers she has received from all of the experts.  She knows something is not right and is ready to consult with alternative practitioners.  She is not alone with her story and I would love this documentary to inspire thousands more to seek alternative practitioners and therapies.
